Unlike most people believe, there is more to Benidorm and the Costa Blanca than beaches, bars and theme parks as the area is surrounded by Nature Reserves and Parks.

60km drive inland from Alicante toward Alcoi is the spectacular Carrascar de la Font Roja a protected nature area covering 1,352 metres of Menejador Sierra from Alcoi to Ibi. There are numerous pathways to explore with old farmhouses and caves, also lookout to see if you can spot any wild boars, wild cats or eagles.

Further north between Denia and Javea is the limestone Montgo Mountain connected to San Antonio Cape via Les Planes. Daily excursions up the mountain lead you thruogh various eco-systems until you reach the summit with panoramic views of the area and on a clear day you can even see Ibiza. Rising 332m from the sea at Calpe the Rock of Ifac can be climed using the Nature Park Trail or for the more adventurous there are various cliff faces available for mountaineering, once at the top you will find marvellous views over the coast. Benidorm Old Town is picturesque and not as commercialised as the new town, you can enjoy a relaxing walk up to the church square with steps ascending to the old bandstand and the Balcon de Benidorm which has the best view of the magnificent beaches.

Calpe is a town of near perfect combination with its cultural status offers fine arts with galleries, antiques and craft shops galore, an archaeological museum showing interesting artefacts from the regions past and sun and golden beaches for relaxation.



If you still have some energy left at the end of the day why not sample some of the varied nightlife that the Benidorm area has to offer. In the Levante area you will find even more varying nightlife you could start off at the elegant Penelope's Beach Club where you could rub shoulders with some of the local celebrities that hang out there. If Theme Bars and live entertainment cabaret are more your thing why not try Heartbreak with its resident guitarist and half big yellow car on stage to entertain you, or something a wee bit different can be found at Las Vegas situated on the waterfront without a slot machine in sight enjoy dinner and dancing with Giogio and Milana's unique gender bending dinner accompliment, for the truly British Cabaret night The Tower Lounge has 2 different nightly entertainers every night, some you might even recognise from British TV. The Eastside of Levante also has a wide variety of cabaret venues including Steptoes II, The Town, Stardust, Valentines and Talk of the Coast. If its Rock that your into then try Daytona Rock Bar or the Hardrock Cafe, fancy trying a bit of Line Dancing, then the Red Dog Western Dance Saloon is for you, Irish music fans will love the Shamrock where classic gaelic melodies can be heard, and for the serious Clubbers there's The Hippodrome, Lennon's and the Disco Garden Jokers (only open Friday and Saturday nights).
